SABRE, the Save Acton Beauchamp’s Rural Environment website (“We”) are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy when you visit our website. This privacy policy sets out how we will process and use any personal data that you provide to us, or that we may collect from or about you as a result of visiting our website. Who we are

We are SABRE, the Save Acton Beauchamp’s Rural Environment campaign. We are the data controller for this website and all information collected through it. You can find out more about us, or you can contact us generally, through our email address at admin@sabre.website.

The Information We Collect

We may collect two types of information from you.  That which you provide to us voluntarily and that which is collected automatically.

Data you voluntarily provide to us:

  • Your name,
  • Your contact information (including email address and telephone number),
  • Information such as postcode, preferences and interests,
  • Your views concerning solar electricity generation and the proposed solar panel development at Acton Beauchamp in particular,
  • Other information used in connection with surveys and/or offers.

This information will normally be collected from you by means of web forms that you submit and emails that you send, by engaging with us through social media, verbally by telephone or in person, by letter or in any other way in which information can be provided voluntarily.

Data that we collect automatically:

  • Your IP address,
  • Your operating system,
  • Your browser ID,
  • Browser activity, and
  • Other information about how you interact with the site.

We collect this information through Google Analytics (using Monster Insights) for anonymous reporting as well as through the use of cookies which is dealt with further below.

How we use the information we collect

The information that we collect is used:

  • To better understand the views and opinions of those with whom we interact;
  • To better promote the interests of the Save Acton Beauchamp’s Rural Environment campaign;
  • To create, update and maintain our internal records;
  • To inform you of developments in relation to the solar panel proposal at Acton Beauchamp and to provide information generally about solar panels and their use as a means of generating electricity.  We may contact you by to contact you by email, post, telephone, text message or using social media (e.g., Facebook, Twitter);
  • To provide you with any information regarding events and promotions linked to the Acton Beauchamp solar panel application or any other events and promotions related to solar panels generally;

Please note that where information is sent to you following your consent to receive that information you may at any time unsubscribe or withdraw your consent by emailing us at admin@sabre.website or by clicking on the unsubscribe button at the foot of any emails or newsletters.

The lawful bases upon which we rely in relation to the processing of the data that you provide is consent and legitimate interest.  By providing us with your personal data, you will be consenting to its use as set out above.

Security

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. These include storing all data in a password protected folder or online in password protected resources.

In relation to data collected through or website, all passwords are encrypted on the server where the website is hosted, SSL certificates are used to ensure that data sent between you and the server is encrypted and SSH keys are used to protect the information on the server – this provides RSA 2048-bit encryption, which is comparable to a 617 digit long password. Our server is located in a specialist data centre in the UK in Reading and information is not backed up outside of the UK.

Retention

We will delete it when it is no longer needed. That will be the earlier of the Planning Application (or any subsequent Appeal or application for Judicial Review) being determined or a request from you for your data to be deleted.

Links to other websites

In the event that you follow links to other websites from our website, we cannot provide any assurances in relation to the content, accuracy or privacy of those websites, and cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites. You should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.

Your rights

In the event that you are not happy with any aspect of our website or our use of your personal data you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner at ico.org.uk – Tel: 0303 123 1113.

You have the right to obtain confirmation that your personal data is being processed by us and obtain a copy of your personal data from us. This will be provided without charge. Please send such requests to the data manager at admin@sabre.website .

You also have various other rights in relation to your personal data which you may be able to exercise (depending upon the circumstances). These include:

  • the right to ask us to delete your personal data or stop processing it, unless it is necessary for us to retain it to comply with our legal obligations and/or the exercise or defence of legal claims,

Google Adwords

This website uses or will use in the near future the Google AdWords remarketing service to advertise on third party websites (including Google) to previous visitors to our site. It could mean that we advertise to previous visitors who haven’t completed a task on our site, for example using the contact form to make an enquiry. This could be in the form of an advertisement on the Google search results page, or a site in the Google Display Network. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on someone’s past visits to the website. Of course, any data collected will be used in accordance with our own privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy.

You can set preferences for how Google advertises to you using the Google Ad Preferences page, and if you want to you can opt out of interest-based advertising entirely by cookie settings or permanently using a browser plugin.

IP Addresses and Cookies

We may collect information about your computer; this is statistical data concerning your browsing actions and does not identify you individually. This information includes your IP address where available, operating system and browser type, for system administration and to report collective information to our advertisers.

We may also collect information about your general internet usage using cookie files stored on the hard drive of all computers. The cookies contain valuable information that is transferred to your computer’s hard drive.

Cookies are small text files that are stored by web browsers on your computer or mobile phone. When you visit a website, that site’s server asks your computer for permission to store this file in a part of your hard drive specifically designated for cookies. In collecting this information, we are able to improve our site and deliver a better and more personalised service.

Our website uses “analytical” cookies which, in conjunction with our web server’s log files, allows us to calculate the aggregate number of people visiting our website and which parts of it are most popular. This helps us analyse data about web page traffic and allows us to improve our website in order to tailor it to user’s needs. We only use this data for statistical purposes after which the data is removed.

We will not share personal data collected through our website with unrelated third parties, except as provided in this Privacy Policy. We may share Personal Data with companies that we contract with to perform services for us, such as assisting with postal services, where they need your Personal Data to perform the purposes outlined within this Privacy Policy. These companies are not authorised to keep or use your Personal Data for any other purpose.

We do not transfer your personal data outside the European Economic Area.
